A post-war masonry bungalow at the bottom of a ravine lot became the basis for a low-carbon, low-energy, multigenerational home. We retained the original foundation and masonry while adding two stories, more than doubling the living space through a successful Committee of Adjustment process.

Partnering with Greening Homes, we applied advanced sustainable construction techniques, including natural plaster finishes installed by 17 volunteers — a true community effort that aligns with our philosophy of design for people, planet, and comfort. Watertite provided specialized waterproofing to protect against the high-water table, while mechanical systems were upgraded for efficiency and resilience.

The finished home embodies comfort, flexibility, and environmental stewardship, creating a vibrant, sustainable space for multiple generations.
