ROSEDALE HERITAGE ADDITION

Elegant, Efficient, and Extending the Life of a Classic Home

This two-phase transformation of a historic Rosedale residence focused on longevity, efficiency, and seamless integration of old and new. By upgrading instead of replacing, we preserved the home's substantial embodied energy while dramatically improving performance.

In the lower level, new insulation, careful moisture management, and efficient systems to create comfortable, durable spaces - including a wine cellar, media room, bathroom, and fitness area - all within the existing footprint.

On the main floor, the redesigned kitchen embraces daylighting and indoor-outdoor living. Seventeen-foot bi-folding doors reduce the need for daytime lighting and encourage natural ventilation, lowering energy demands.

The rear addition "squares off" the home, minimizing thermal weak points and improving envelope continuity. This added space allows for a better-performing master suite with optimized storage and a serene, efficient ensuite.

Rooted in heritage but aligned with modern sustainability standards, this project elevates both the lifespan and livability of a classic Toronto home.
